Tuquito at Popular University (Chaco)
Tuquito presents a new implementation success case, this time by the hands of Pablo Terradillos & Fabricio Fogar, who migrate a computer lab to Tuquito at Popular University in Resistencia - Chaco
I leave you with the implementation report:
From mid august, Linux courses will be dictated at Popular University, located in Resistencia, Chaco.
Courses will be splited in 3 levels, the first of them being targeted to desktop users who are seeking to replace their current operative system to make their every day assigments with their pc’s, specially city hall workers and oficinists. The 2nd level will be adress to systems admins and the third to applications and special solutions.
For the courses, the equipment is formed by 15 pc’s, 7 of them with Celeron1.7 Ghz processors and 256 MB of RAM memory, the other are Celeron 400 Mhz and with RAM between 128 and 256 MB.
At first we thought to install some variants from Ubuntu, but this was imposible because the poor speed performance that presented.
Then we test Tuquito 2 r4 (we didn’t have any r5 cd’s) and probe install them on one of the Celeron 400 Mhz pc’s and it turns to behave quite well, even on live-cd mode (even though we made the installation using the ncurses menu for being faster). Later we’ve got r5 cd’s and was installed in all the pc’s without any problems, excepting for one pc which was later fixed.
Other features:
For the installation of the 15 pc’s we only had 2 CD-Rom. We also have to “fight” with the machine supplier because two of them came without Hard Drive.
The person in charge of dictating the Windows Courses really like Tuquito (specially aMSN)
